A message to our friends and family:

In light of recent directives from federal, state, and local agencies related to limiting the spread of COVID-19, Hospitality House of Charlotte has been working to find a solution that will ensure the safety of patients, caregivers, volunteers, and staff. We have come to the difficult decision to temporarily suspend our guest accommodations until further notice, effective close of business Friday, April 3. The business office will remain open, and we will continue fulfilling our mission to connect hospitals, patients, and caregivers to improve patient outcomes to the best of our ability.

With understandable hospital restrictions on visitation, facility occupancy has significantly declined. The facility’s coordination with hotel partners has ensured the relocation of current guests at a negotiated rate. During the facility closure, HHOC will continue accepting patient referrals and coordinating with hospital partners to offer this service to patients and caregivers in critical need of lodging. We are closely monitoring the situation and plan to reopen to guests as soon as the hospitals need us again.

The temporary suspension of guest accommodations at the facility allows HHOC to participate in community wide efforts to limit spread. However, guest income accounts for about 40% of our revenue. In order to ensure we can open our doors again one day, ready to serve those with illnesses and injuries that didn’t pause because of a pandemic, we need your financial support now more than ever.

HHOC anticipates the need for cancer, transplant, and cardiac services will be unprecedented once the threat from COVID-19 has passed and those critical treatments resume. Deferred treatments will remain a painful reality as struggling patients continue to feel the impact of closures and quarantine measures.

Thank you to our friends and family for showing your unwavering support to us throughout this time. This is a situation like no other and the only way to make it through is by supporting one another. We are all strong, but we are #strongertogether.

Please reach out to us with any questions. We wish you all good health and happiness.
