Our 20 bedroom home offers lodging to families regardless of the patient’s age. Guests are referred by medical personnel and admission is based on house availability.
Each room includes the following:
- Sheets, coverlets, blankets and pillows
- Bath towels, wash cloths and hand towels
- Hair dryer
While lodging at HHOC, guests also have access to the following communal amenities:
- Double fully equipped kitchen
- Pantry staples
- Free Wi-Fi
- Complimentary laundry supplies
We are fortunate to have wonderful companies, churches, civic groups and individual volunteers provide meals for our guests periodically. Guests are welcome to bring personal food items that can be housed in our shared kitchen.
The nightly rate is $45 for a standard room. We are able to offer this great rate in the heart of Charlotte thanks to our wonderful donors. Guests are expected to pay before each night’s stay. For guests needing financial assistance, please let your referral source know so they are able to note that on your referral form.
Parking & Transportation
Complimentary, off-site parking is available for our guests. Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas HealthCare System) and Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center provide transportation to and from the hospitals via shuttle service.
We know that this is a very difficult time for you and we have created this home with you in mind. Loved ones staying with us are undergoing some of the most difficult days and often they find support from other folks in our home. You can expect to meet some incredible families; some would like to share their story with you; some listen to you; others would like privacy and we value that as well. We do not have formal support groups but we know that often guests benefit from the conversations they have with others in our home.
What We Expect
It is important that guests staying at HHOC are comfortable in a communal environment. We do not have around the clock cleaning staff, so we ask guests to clean up behind themselves in common areas and in their room. Rooms are thoroughly cleaned upon guest check-out, and our cleaning staff provides periodic complimentary cleanings for long term guests, but in order to keep the house in great working order for all who stay with us, it’s important that everyone clean up behind their family.
We are unable to house guests who are disruptive or display irresponsible behavior that may be perceived as a threat to other guests. Guests will receive more detailed house guidelines upon arrival.
