Charlotte, NC, May 29, 2020: After a difficult decision to temporarily suspend guest accommodations in light of COVID-19, the Hospitality House of Charlotte (HHOC) will be reopening at the start of business on June 1, 2020 with new health guidelines in place. This opening is in response to the resurgence of need for services as restrictions on elective surgeries and visitation are eased at local hospitals. Patients and caregivers will once again be in need of affordable housing that allows them to stay close to hospitals and treatment facilities while their loved ones heal. As part of this phased reopening and with dedication to limiting the spread of COVID-19, facility guidelines have been established in compliance with state and local health recommendations.
Some COVID-19 preventative measures include:
- Capacity limited to 50%
- Coronavirus screenings for all staff and guests
- Extensive cleaning and disinfecting of the facility
- Requirement of masks and social distancing while in common areas
- New renovations including a protective barrier at the front desk, antimicrobial bedding, and hand sanitizing stations
Since closing on April 3rd, HHOC leadership has dedicated efforts to analyzing and improving health and safety measures, including the launch of the COVID-19 Response Project, which funded any items needed for new preventative measures. On May 5, Giving Tuesday Now, the campaign raised over $3,000 allowing renovations to be made in time for the opening. HHOC is thankful for the support of community members and encourages anyone interested in helping to make a monetary gift or donate items on its COVID-19 wish list.
