Our Mission

Hospitality House of Charlotte provides a “home away from home” for out-of-town family members of patients in local hospitals.

The organization's two homes, located across from Carolinas Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital, provide a nurturing place for out-of-town guests to stay free of charge while their loved one receives medical care at these hospitals. Guests are referred to the organization by the hospitals, and are welcome regardless of the patient’s age or diagnosis. Volunteers and staff are on-site at all times to answer questions, provide emotional support and help with household chores. Both homes are open 365 days a year and are staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Services for the guests are free and are funded entirely through charitable donations. In its 20 years of service, Hospitality House of Charlotte has opened its heart and homes to more than 26,000 people from 48 states and 17 countries.

More Than Just a Free Bed

Guests who have stayed at Hospitality House know that it is more than just a place to sleep. As one guest described it, Hospitality House is a “port in a storm.” The organization’s two homes are a place where families from very different backgrounds, from all over the country and the world not only stay, but also find comfort and emotional support in each other and the “home away from home” atmosphere that each home offers.
