Volunteer

Because Hospitality House depends entirely upon donations, volunteers are the heart and soul of what we do. Hospitality House is incredibly fortunate to have countless individuals, civic organizations, churches, school groups and corporations who offer their time and talents to make our homes a welcoming refuge for out-of-town families whose loved one has been hospitalized. Volunteers provide an array of services that range in scope depending on need, time commitment and availability. Preparing meals, donating clothes or offering to spend time with guests are just some examples of what volunteers contribute. Below are further examples of some of our greatest needs. House Hosting
Because the homes offer 24-hour on-site support, volunteers are needed to staff the houses during the weekday hours from 9am-9pm, while resident managers cover the late night and early morning hours. Volunteers are assigned regular shifts once each month, 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm or 5pm-9pm. Responsibilities include: checking in guests, assisting with household chores, answering questions and providing general assistance.

Suite Adoption
Our living areas are home for over 120 family members each month. We offer the opportunity for community volunteers to adopt a suite of rooms to lovingly care for on a regular quarterly interval, cleaning, decorating, and adding a personal caring touch for the benefit of our Guests.

Provide a Meal
Each evening, 15 Guests at each House are in need of a home-cooked meal. We invite you who enjoy sharing the bounty of your hearth with our Guests to pick a regular date to bring a large garden salad, pot of stew or hot casserole.

Join the Auxiliary
The purpose of the organization's Auxiliary is to support Hospitality House. The group organizes and executes a number of volunteer projects such as assisting with fundraisers, helping to maintain the building and grounds, and developing special recognition events for volunteer hostesses. Below are just some projects managed by the Auxiliary. Food Shoppers
Provide weekly grocery shopping for each home

Supplies Shoppers
Provide needed paper products and cleaning supplies

Groundskeepers
Assist with yard work or landscaping individually or with Hands On Charlotte the first Saturday morning of each month.

Fundraisers
Help with various fundraising events and activities
