Volunteer At Hospitality House



Volunteers are the heart of Hospitality House of Charlotte (HHoC). We strive to create an atmosphere in which our volunteers can use their individual talents and abilities to the fullest. Since we operate seven days a week, 365 days a year, we rely on our volunteers to provide many of the services for our guests. Our Group Volunteers typically volunteer one time or on a specific project. Our House Volunteers come in on a regular basis and participate in our comprehensive Volunteer Training Program. Thank you for considering giving of your time and talents to support our guests and our mission.

House Volunteers

We have many different volunteer opportunities. For example, you can work at the front desk, bake goodies for our guests to enjoy, help in the office, or plant flowers outside in the yard. Below are the many opportunities available to our house volunteers.

House-Services Team

  • Work at the Front Desk and assist the guests as needed
  • Shop for food once a week
  • Purchase household supplies on an as-needed basis
  • Pick up bread donated by local companies once a month
  • Assist in our administrative office

Communications Team

  • Submit articles or ideas for our monthly newsletter
  • Support the Corporate Board with fund-raising events, and community relations
  • Participate in the Speakers Bureau (training provided)
  • Maintain our HHoC History Book

Special-Events Team

  • Decorate HHoC for special occasions and holidays
  • Assist with special-events planning
  • Host the annual volunteer luncheon
  • Lead House tours for visiting groups
  • Provide refreshments for events

Grounds and Maintenance Team

  • Plant flowers
  • Maintenance in the house
  • Weed the grounds  
  • Water the plants in summer
  • Perform minor house repairs

How do I become a Volunteer?

If you wish to become a House Volunteer, fill out the Volunteer Application Form online. We will then contact you to attend one of our Volunteer Orientation sessions. These sessions are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. After orientation you will receive one-on-one training from our Guest Services Manager. If you are interested in becoming a Group Volunteer you will not need to fill out the application form.
