A nurse noticed that my baby’s intestines were swollen during an ultrasound. I was quickly transferred to Charlotte and induced within 24 hours. After I gave birth to my baby, Adrian, the doctors told me he had Gastroschisis, a birth defect in which the baby’s intestines are outside of his body. Because Adrian was delivered early and due to his complicated condition, we needed to stay in Charlotte while he gained strength to come home with us. I’m very thankful that HHOC has allowed me to be close to him.
