Hospitality House of Charlotte was excited to participate in the groundbreaking of the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) on January 27, 2010. Hospitality House of Charlotte presented a tree in commemoration of the RMH groundbreaking and in appreciation of the friendship that both houses share. The houses have been meeting monthly since the summer of 2008 to work toward a smooth transition for the Charlotte community. Upon presenting the tree, Kimberly Melton, the Executive Director of Hospitality House remarked that after 25 years of sheltering out-of-town families, we are pleased to welcome Ronald McDonald House to Charlotte. We're glad for the help!
The celebration was held in frigid temperatures and each of the speakers kept their remarks short, for fear of frostbite. The warmest part of the morning was the smile on the face of Mona Johnson Gibson (RMH Executive Director). She and her staff were beaming at the excitement of getting started. It is anticipated that the house will open in February of 2011.
